Conservation Council of Western Australia

The CCWA is Western Australia's leading state environmental organisation representing over 66 state conservation groups.

What we're doing to protect our environment:

Forests: CCWA has run successful campaigns to obtain new commitments to forest conservation reserves throughout 2000-2001

Waste Management: CCWA's waste management campaign has contributed to the establishment of the Waste 2020 process in WA, a process to overhaul the waste management system in WA. The campaign has also finally seen the release of the proposed contaminated sites legislation.

Land Conservation and salinity issues: CCWA's continuing public information campaigns have led to increased awareness of and commitment to addressing salinity with recent release of new salinity strategy and additional funding allocation. CCWA's urban bushland campaign has seen the release of the Bush Plan Report and increase awareness of urban bush land clearing issues

Marine Conservation and Management: CCWA's marine campaign has seen the formation of a marine conservation strategy groups. It is helping to lead the debate on ecologically sustainable fishing and marine protected areas in Western Australia.
